[The camerawork in this video is... actually fairly professional, because it's being held in place by a Psychic Pokemon who will levitate whatever he pleases. It's outside the department store in Goldenrod, and Micchy is wearing a coat that... doesn't quite go with his shoes but you know what, he's trying.]

[But the focus is less on the coat and more on the Mareep that Micchy is... doing his best to wrestle into a sweater. It's not exactly cut for something with four legs but he's doing his damndest to get it into the thing.]

Come on, it'll keep you warm!

Maaa!

Don't give me that, your wool is going to get wet and then you'll be really unhappy and the static will get everywhere.

Maaa maareep!

Come on, please?

Reep!

[A laugh of Kaa kaadabraaa! can be heard behind the camera, and Micchy looks up to see Yoshiro filming them, his eyes wide.]

H-hey! Turn that off now!

[He reaches for the Pokegear and snatches it out of the Psychic-type's clutches, turning the video off.]

You know, I think you'll find sheep wool is a lot more resistant to water than you might expect.

But it's an electric type, right? Wet wool would be a pretty good conductor, and I don't want sparks getting everywhere...

I can't deny that you have a point there, but I have to wonder if the static unleashed by trying to force a sweater on over the wool might not be just as bad. Perhaps an umbrella might be a better idea? Perhaps if you can find one that you can hook onto her collar...

[Oh... oh that's adorable. She's fighting back an indulgent grin now and just trying to stay calm and reasonable instead of giggling at him.]

Your Pokemon have a decent idea of what they need. Don't try to force them too hard. Even the young ones grow up a lot faster than people do.

[He sighs and works on pulling the sweater off. And it was a nice one, too...]

I don't know. I've been here a while but sometimes I think I'm not very good at this whole training thing.

[Well that brought the mood back down again. Twilight ponders his statement for a moment.]

You know, I think that's a problem most of us encounter at some point. Outside of battle, Pokemon don't tend to really need our direction all that much. But the way I see it is, you're there to help them learn and grow. You're kind of like a combination of strategist, mentor, and parent. And part of all of those jobs is knowing when to step back and let your charges do as they will. You'll get better at seeing problems that really need to be solved as you get a wider view of things.

... I guess. I didn't like it very much when my brother tried to push me too hard. I have some Pokemon that are better at communicating their needs than others. It's just kind of hard to read things off of something like a horse rather than something more humanoid.

Just... just pay close attention to their body language and keep a close eye on them, you'll figure it out as you go.

Not a bad idea. Trying to ground yourself before touching her would also help.

That's not a bad idea. I do have a ground type that might be helpful... but I think she's a little too big to let out here.

There have to be other things that are grounded around there. If you can find something rubber that would probably be ideal.

If those are at all decently insulated they should help. Or you could see if you can pick up a pack of rubber gloves.
