So Christmas is coming up, I guess. It's more of a lover's holiday in Japan, but it doesn't seem like it is here? I guess it's more like the American version without the religion.

What sort of things do you guys do for Christmas in your home worlds? I usually just ignored it, mostly, since it's not as big of a deal where I'm from and I wasn't dating anyone. Apparently in other countries eating fried chicken on Christmas isn't a thing? I don't know why it's a thing in Japan, it just is.

You know, the funny thing is, I'd never even heard the word "Christmas" before I came here.

But at just about the exact same time of year, we celebrate Hearth's Warming Eve, the anniversary of the day my country was founded.

That's the funny part, it's quite similar. Present exchanges, trees, even little things down to the candy canes. The primary difference is that we have a play put on every time this year about Equestria's foundation.

I still don't understand human religion. Maybe it comes from living in a world where the beings most deserving of veneration are very much physical and present.

Granted, the whole debate about the afterlife is something I can understand, but I've never gotten involved in that myself.

Well I guess in an odd way that's kind of reassuring. I was worried there was something I was just... missing.

Regardless, I'm guessing that side of this holiday isn't something you're particularly involved with in the first place, since your country celebrates it differently.

I've always found coming up with gift ideas to be the hardest part, though, even if you do have the money to buy them.

That's a good idea. I find writing things out usually helps me. There's just something about having everything there in front of my eyes.

Yes, hopefully. You know, I don't think I ever had this many people to worry about getting gifts for back home.

Right. You'd only have had to worry about one person, at most.
