So Christmas is coming up, I guess. It's more of a lover's holiday in Japan, but it doesn't seem like it is here? I guess it's more like the American version without the religion.

What sort of things do you guys do for Christmas in your home worlds? I usually just ignored it, mostly, since it's not as big of a deal where I'm from and I wasn't dating anyone. Apparently in other countries eating fried chicken on Christmas isn't a thing? I don't know why it's a thing in Japan, it just is.

wait wait wait wait back up

christmas is for COUPLES in japan??? omg i had no idea....

[ And eating fried chicken too, apparently, but that's nothing to complain about!! ]

i had thought that just putting up a tree and spending the day with your family was the way everyone would spend it!!! i mean i guess i could maybe see how it's romantic but

i never would've thought there are places where it's mainly for people in love!!!

Fried chicken? That's kind of funny. When we were kids, my mom would take me and my brothers out for Chinese and a movie on Christmas Eve.

Christmas is usually an excuse for my crew to drink together, and maybe exchange little trinkets if we visited a port recently. We don't decorate at all, though.

it didnt even ever snow or anything, which is one thing I really like about being here
it's for people with boyfriends and girlfriends for you, though? thats kinda weird

[Jimmy.]

not in a bad way though! just different I guess. kinda doesn't seem fair for people who, like, aren't with somebody

We don't have Christmas where I'm from. This will be my first one.

Molly told me it was for friends and family to spend time together and exchange gifts. It's strange to see other worlds have different traditions.

I've never really heard about it back home.

[Mostly because seasons in Cloudbank were... nebulous things.]

With the cold weather, fried chicken sounds like a good idea however.

[Thankfully Nowi will not be spamming you with pink glittery text, so uh. There's that??]

IT'S A LOVER'S HOLIDAY????
I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ABOUT GIVING PEOPLE PRESENTS AND SOMETHING ABOUT SANTA???

WE DON'T HAVE CHRISTMAS WHERE I'M FROM!!
IT'S A LOT TO GET USED TO!!!

SO DOES THIS MEAN CHRISTMAS IS WHEN YOU GO ON DATES WITH PEOPLE??
AM I USING THAT RIGHT??? "DATES" AREN'T SOMETHING WE DO WHERE I'M FROM!!

You know, the funny thing is, I'd never even heard the word "Christmas" before I came here.

But at just about the exact same time of year, we celebrate Hearth's Warming Eve, the anniversary of the day my country was founded.

[Sorry, Micchy, Ralph is all capslock all the time. It's just easier for him to see.]

USUALLY? A BIG FAT NOTHING because nobody ever invites me anywhere.
